Perhaps the biggest barrier to entry for most Mac players would be obtaining a copy of Windows. This requires spending some cash just to get started. When you do get a copy, you will have to set up the Windows partition and install the operating system on it. This I won't go into detail on, as the OSX install disks, which you will need, the Bootcamp application, and the Apple website all have instructions that give the steps for the entire process. For those who haven't done this before, be prepared to spend an hour or longer to complete the set up, as you'll need to make the partition, install Windows, download Aion, and then patch the game.
Since the Linux package runs from wherever you download it to, it is possible to have two version of the Aion Desktop Wallet available on your computer. If you want to avoid this, delete your current installation of the Aion Desktop Wallet before following these steps.
You will first have to ensure that the config.xml file found in the aion/config folder of your aion kernel repository is modified such that the Java API accepts remote access. This will allow your wallet to connect with the node.
The log file is stored at /.aion/logs. You can copy the contents of the folder to your Desktop by running cp -r /.aion/logs /Desktop. You may need to run this command as sudo. The log file is now on your Desktop.
To view the Aion Desktop Wallet logs in Windows, navigate to c:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\.aion\log replacing YOUR_USERNAME with your Windows username. In this example, my username is John so the address to my logs is C:\Users\John\.aion\log.
We recommend validating your download, and then adding exception in your antivirus software for the Aion Desktop Wallet. The exception can be made temporarily until you have completed the swap process.
Update: v1.2.2.1460425 The Windows version of the desktop wallet has been updated with a path that resolves some file path issues. Please download this new version if you were previously having issues with the Wallet.

If you run from source, you will most likely also want some of the commonly used plugins, such as MHX2 and the asset downloader. These can be found on the plugins page. These are bundled in the 1.2.x releases and in the nightly builds.
From reading Wikipedia and other sites, it seems that EverQuest can be played on Mac OS X. However, I have trouble finding a downloader. There's an installer on CNet, but it doesn't seem to do anything except download a RTF file. I am new to Macs so maybe something's happening which I haven't noticed, but I doubt it.
Several of our readers have been having trouble getting the free download of Everquest's Mac edition from Sony Online Entertainment's site. So, here's some step-by-step instructions that should help:
Step 2. "Flag" your Station account for EQMac. This is best done by simply clicking on the "Free Digital Download" link for Everquest Mac Edition in the Station store. This will automatically download the "Launchpad" application for the next step.(Replacement) Step 2:As of March 2009, there appears to be a problem using SOE's automated system to enable Station accounts for EQMac. The temporary fix is to contact SOE support directly, either by telephone (1-858-537-0898) or through their online chat support. You MUST have a live person enable the account for you. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon!
Step 3. Get a copy of the Everquest "Launchpad" application. You can either download it from , or simply copy it from another computer. If you download it via the free digital download from Sony, it will have the extension ".sit" which means that it is compressed using the "Stuffit" application. You may need to download a free copy of Stuffit Expander to expand the compressed program.
Step 5. Download the full game by launching the "Launchpad" application, and logging in under your Station account. This will begin the 2GB+ download process which can take a long time, depending on your Internet connection speed. 2ff7e9595c
